Cherokee County is located north of Atlanta and Cobb County. It covers 424 square miles and has about 5 1/2 % as many people as Cobb County. Although most of Cherokee County is still rural, a large portion of the county is now accessible to Atlanta and slated for development.

The economy mix for the county is based on manufacturing, retail, and service industries. However high-technology firms are starting to provide a major employer base due to the county's excellent location in the Atlanta region. Because of the increasing development, population and services required, Cherokee County will continue to experience an expanding employment base for years to come.

Cherokee County Public Schools is one of the fastest growing in the Southeast. In the past 15 years they have completed over one-half of the 28 schools. Students are scoring in the average and above-average ranges in national testing.

Swimming, fishing, camping, boating, water-skiing and hiking are some of the popular recreational activities that surround Allatoona Lake and Cherokee County. In addition residents enjoy 35 tennis courts and eight parks.

While encouraging growth and development, Cherokee County is determined to keep it an enjoyable place for recreation and for its people to live.
