DeKalb County is located just east of Atlanta is contains 269 square miles. Personal income levels are well above the national average and in fact, are among the highest in Georgia. DeKalb is the region's most urban and ethnically diverse county with over 600,000 residents. Chinese, Hindi, Spanish and Japanese are heard as much as English. It is also home to DeKalb Area Technical School, which is the second largest technical school in Georgia.
The public parks and recreation facilities make DeKalb County very attractive. The county maintains over 105 parks, 320 tennis courts, recreation centers and 15 golf courses. Recreational facilities include Stone Mountain Park, which is second only to Disney as the most visited tourist attraction in the southeast. Culture events consist of Scottish Highland Games, Yellow Daisy Festivals, and summer laser shows.
Industry in DeKalb ranges from national and regional headquarters to manufacturing to sales and distribution. Many of the firms are internationally owned from as close as Canada and as far away as Australia.
