Forsyth County is located 40 miles northeast of Atlanta and is home to 90,000 people who enjoy the land as well as Lake Sidney Lanier. The county remains largely rural but with the completion of Georgia highway 400, Atlanta seems closer than 40 miles.
Much of the work force commutes to Atlanta and office parks along the Georgia 400 corridor. Atlantans are discovering that living near the lake outweighs the commute. There are currently 21 industrial parks with more than one million square feet of available space. Cost of housing is less because land prices and taxes are often lower.
Forsyth County Schools are frequently ranked in the top 10 percent of all state school systems. It runs 11 elementary schools, three middle schools, and three high schools. In addition to public schools, Chattahoochee Christian School is available for students grades K-8.
Lake Lanier runs along most of the eastern border of Forsyth County and attracts about 15 million visitors a year. Therefore recreation activities are endless and include picnicking, camping, swimming, tennis, golf, and boating.
Forsyth County is for those that love tranquil country living near a deep-water lake and may not mind a small commute in exchange.
