Gwinnett County is a suburban community 20 minutes northeast of Atlanta. It covers 437 square miles and has 15 municipalities. Since it is far removed from the hustle and bustle of city life in Atlanta, is has a tranquil lifestyle. The county has regularly been ranked first in the nation in economic strength. Population is steadily increasing from 352,000 in 1990 to more than 500,000 in 1998 and some forecasters predict more than 700,000 by the year 2020.

Gwinnett County Public Schools is an excellent school system with a total enrollment of over 104,000 children. Despite the large enrollment it still retains an average student to teacher ratio of 21-1. As a result of the great school system, Gwinnett public schools consistently rate among the highest test scores in the state of Georgia. Nearly 85 percent of high school graduates continue their education in a post-secondary program. In addition to the public schools Gwinnett County also has 16 private schools and the City of Buford operates its own school system.
