Brookhaven
Brookhaven is older neighbor located on the line between the City of Atlanta and DeKalb County. The area became popular in the 1920's due to it being the last stop of the streetcar. Also in the 1920's Brookhaven Country Club and Golf Course were built. Development picked up pace in the 1930's.
Today you can find a mixture of ranches and two-story traditional frame and brick frame homes all on large lots. Homes prices range from $400,000 to the low millions with homes facing the golf course being the most expensive.
Brookhaven is convenient to shopping and rapid transit. Shopping centers are five minutes away. Additionally a MARTA rapid transit station is located in Brookhaven making the downtown business district very accessible.
Brookwood Hills
Brookwood Hills is an elegant neighborhood with shady trees and fine traditional Georgian and Tudor style homes. A neighborhood association maintains the community pool and tennis courts. Through the year the association plans several social events for residents to enjoy.
Most homes in Brookwood Hills were built in the 1920's. However, today, most homes have been renovated and enlarged. The prices of homes range from $400,000 to $800,000.
Many of the residents that live in Brookwood Hills are physicians, attorneys, and other professionals whose practices are nearby.
Collier Hills
Collier Hills is a lovely, close-knit neighborhood located on the west side of Peachtree Rd. It is convenient to shopping with several large shopping centers nearby. Additionally easy access to downtown is convenient via MARTA. There are also three parks within walking distance as well as a public golf course.
You will mainly find small cottages that were built back in the 1930's and 1940's. However small tracts of land have been developed and now house new subdivisions. These homes are generally bigger but are still on small lots. Prices of homes range from $200,000 to $300,000. You can also find condominiums and townhomes.
As in many of the neighborhoods, Collier Hills has an active civic association that plans neighborhood parties and operates a neighborhood security program.
Haynes Manor
Haynes Manor is a neighborhood that was developed in the late 1920's to the early 1940's. It is an area of beautifully maintained homes with many of them on large city lots. Haynes Manor has two parks and is bordered on the south by Bobby Jones Golf Course. Fabulous shopping is only minutes away Phillips Plaza, Lenox Square, and the specialty shops on Peachtree Road.
Homes in Haynes Manor are a mixture of traditional and Georgian architecture. Recently some new homes have been built. However the area strives to protect its character and reputation of gracious living. Prices of homes range from the low $400,000's to the low $1,000,000's.
Peachtree Hills
Peachtree Hills developed in the 1920's is a delightful community of smaller homes. Peachtree Hills is very established and few homes are available at any given time. There is an active civic organization.
Many of the homes are traditional architecture with high ceilings and hardwoods. Home prices range from the low to high $200,000's.
Many of the recreational activities center around the park and its lighted tennis courts. You can also find trendy cafes and restaurants as well as excellent hospitals and shopping.
Peachtree Road Corridor
Peachtree Roak Corridor is a much newer area than much of Buckhead being developed within the last 15 years. Many of the residents are empty nesters from the Buckhead area unwilling to leave the area but desire a maintenance free lifestyle.
Homes consist of elegant townhomes and high-rise condominiums. Styles vary from classic brick townhomes to brick or European stucco cluster homes, to single high rise condominiums. Prices of homes range from $110,000 to $1,000,000.
Tuxedo Park
Tuxedo Park is an exclusive neighborhood that is home to some of the finest homes in Atlanta. The community was developed back in the late 1920's and 1930's. Many of Atlanta's affluent moved here and built their estates on very large lots.
Home styles are a mixture of English, Colonial, French, Mediterranean, and Greek Rival Colonials. Many of the homes have been renovated and enlarged. Prices of homes range from $600,000 to over $10,000,000.
Tuxedo Park is conveniently located close to fine restaurants, shopping, and cultural facilities.
