Cobb County



Marietta

Marietta Marietta is the county seat of Cobb County and has a population of 50,937. It has a charming town square complete with a gazebo and fountain. In addition, restaurants, theaters and shops line the square. Marietta is rich in history and today columned mansions sit proudly next to large Victorian gingerbread homes.

Homes in Marietta are mainly traditional and except for the antebellum homes, are priced from $125,000 to $450,000. You can find some smaller starter homes in older neighborhoods priced from $75,000 to $120,000.

Marietta operates its own school system separate from the County. The 6000-student school system offers quality education and is the only traditional public high school in the state that offers the renowned International Baccalaureate diploma. Additionally Marietta's city services are separate from the county as well.

East Cobb

East Cobb East Cobb is convenient to shopping, churches, recreation and the interstate highway system. It is located east of Marietta's city limits and spans outward to the Fulton County line. East Cobb was the first area in Cobb County to experience tremendous growth due to people moving to the suburbs. There are several subdivisions and many of them have active community associations that plan cookouts and holiday parties.

Single family homes in East Cobb range from $130,000 to $850,000. However, small starter homes in older neighborhoods range from $80,000 to $130,000. Many of the communities have their own swimming pools and tennis courts. Additionally townhomes and condominiums are available and range from $60,000 to $285,000.

Recreational activities are very abundant in East Cobb. Tennis, soccer and baseball leagues are organized for children and adults.

West Cobb

West Cobb West Cobb is everything west of the Big Chicken, which is a local landmark on highway 41 near I-75. It was once predominantly rural with fertile green farmland. However today West Cobb is now a fast growing mixture of suburban and rural.

Homes in West Cobb are predominately traditional and are available in all sizes, ages, and price ranges. Several of the communities are golf communities. Prices of houses range from $95,000 to $400,000.

West Cobb is home to Harrison and McEachern High School. These schools are two of the finest in the county and homes in these school districts are highly sought after.

West Cobb is also convenient to shopping at Town Center Mall and Cumberland Mall. At Cobb County Civic Center, symphony, theater, and other cultural events are regularly staged.

North Cobb

North Cobb North Cobb is largely wooded with gently rolling terrain. Because of Interstate 75 and the new Interstate 575 North Cobb is now very accessible. Many families are coming to this area because of good transportation, large wooded lots, and lower home prices.

New home communities are popping up rapidly. You can find a nice selection of both new and resale homes ranging in price from $80,000 to $380,000. However the average home price is about $144,000.

In spite of all the recent growth, North Cobb still has a country atmosphere and people are very friendly.

Smyrna

Symrna Smyrna has a population of 34,855 and is considered the Jonquil City. It is home to the Cumberland Mall as well as the Galleria complex. The Galleria consists of a mall, a hotel, several office towers and the Cobb County Convention Center. In addition several office parks and hotels are popping up around the intersection of I-75 and I-285.

Homes for sale in Smyrna are usually resales because of the commercial expansion there is little property left for new residential construction. Home prices range from $82,000 to $350,000. Ranch homes are very popular. Additionally you can find townhomes, cluster homes, condominiums, and apartments.

Vinings

Vinings Vinings is located on the banks of the Chattahoochee River and has a population of 6,850. Suburbs because of Atlantans discovering this charming area are rapidly overtaking Vinings. It is now the choice of many affluent families. Taxes and land acquisition cost are lower than in northwest Atlanta, making purchasing a home more attractive.

The most popular home styles are rustic, Williamsburg traditional. Additionally you can find some contemporary and English Tudor. Prices are quite high and begin at $200,000. You can find a good selection of homes between $280,000 and $500,000. Also available are townhomes, cluster homes, condominium and luxury apartments.
